This beloved establishment opened in December 2003 and continues to thrive today thanks to an owner and staff who cater to their loyal customers. When you visit, you’ll find quality wine and craft beer selections along with a handcrafted bistro menu and a fully stocked retail store.
Owner Teri Reno’s (on the right, pictured below) choice to locate The Wine Room in Afton Village, a mixed-use area that was just being established at the time, turned out to be a decision that has contributed significantly to the success of The Wine Room. Over the past 20 years, they have attracted a loyal customer base, many of whom are locals and regulars from the Afton neighborhood. Teri attributes the enduring success of the establishment to the unwavering support of these customers.
Unique Wines That Cater to Their Customers
What sets The Wine Room apart is its commitment to understanding its customers’ tastes. Teri explained that this understanding shapes their selection, ensuring that the wines they carry resonate with their clientele. Its offerings go beyond the ordinary, focusing on more boutique-style wines not commonly found in typical grocery stores. They boast an impressive array of hundreds of variations that cater to diverse tastes and preferences.
In addition to its exceptional wine offerings, The Wine Room takes pride in supporting local breweries. With a rotating selection that includes all local breweries on tap, such as Cabarrus Brewing Company, Southern Strain, and 26 Acres, you can savor some of the best brews the area has to offer.
Versatile Venue for Every Occasion
Whether you savor a glass (or two) on-site or seek the perfect bottle or case to add to your personal collection, they’ve got you covered. They also offer a selection of gift items and accessories. Additionally, the Wine Room is the perfect venue for events including bridal showers, bridal luncheons, birthday parties, work parties, and holiday parties, with a spacious indoor area and a charming heated outdoor patio, providing a versatile and inviting space for gatherings throughout the year.
Food and Wine Pairings and Entertainment Too!
The Wine Room also offers a fresh, made on-site, food menu featuring popular items such as chicken salad, chili, flatbreads, soups, and salads. It is open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and offers food and wine specials that change weekly. Mondays offer half-priced menu wines, providing an excellent reason to start the week on a high note.
The Wine Room is also a place to enjoy events and entertainment. Every Tuesday, wine enthusiasts can partake in wine tastings featuring unique wines presented by various distributors. Wednesday nights bring lively trivia competitions, while the first Thursday of every month is dedicated to open mic sessions, and the last Thursday hosts karaoke nights. You can also enjoy live music on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as summer concerts in the plaza.
