The Community Cookout and Egg Hunt in Kannapolis is an annual, family-friendly event set to take place on March 30th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the NC Research Campus.

Organized by Outside the Lines Ministries, the event aims to create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere similar to a backyard cookout. Live music, free food, and a range of games and activities, including inflatables and a rock wall, ensure a day filled with joy and laughter.

🐰πŸ₯šπŸŽ‰ The highlight of the event is the egg hunt, featuring over 30,000 stuffed eggs, for kids aged 0-12.

The Cookout has been a beloved tradition since 2011. Initially hosted at Shadybrook Elementary School with 100 attendees, the event has grown over the years, transitioning to various elementary schools in Kannapolis before finding its home at the North Carolina Research Campus in 2022.

Last year’s event saw over 2,000 participants, including 800 excited kids, making it a highlight for the community. For Rhonda and Charlie Barber of Outside the Lines Ministries, witnessing this growth has been both surreal and immensely gratifying.

They envisioned a welcoming space where families could spend time together and create lasting memories. By choosing neutral locations like schools, they ensured that the event felt accessible and inclusive to everyone in the community.

“We wanted it to feel like a backyard cookout with friends and family. A chance for families to spend quality time together.”

For Rhonda, witnessing the joy on the faces of families is the ultimate reward. “The children’s faces light up as they experience all the fun – that’s what it’s all about.”

The Barbers express gratitude for the unwavering support of the community and sponsors who make the event possible. Their collaborative efforts demonstrate the power of unity in making a positive impact.

β€œWe can all make a difference when we come together,” said Charlie, emphasizing the importance of collective action. As the event continues to grow, their commitment to fostering a sense of togetherness remains unwavering.

You don’t want to miss the Community Cookout and Egg Hunt, so be sure and stop by the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis on March 30th. Whether you’re young or young at heart, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this celebration of community, family, and fun.
