Looking to connect with others in our community while making a difference? The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) is starting their 2024-25 calendar year, and it’s the perfect time to get involved!

  • With fresh leadership, exciting initiatives, and new projects on the horizon, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors and prospective members to join in and make an impact.

Since its founding in 1990, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary has been a vital support system for the Salvation Army of Cabarrus and Stanly Counties. Through fundraising and volunteer efforts, SAWA provides financial and practical support for services such as prescription assistance, emergency food, and help with utilities and rent.

Projects with Purpose: Making a Local Impact

They also focus on special projects like the Angel Tree Christmas Project for youth and seniors, scholarships for students in need, and ongoing support for nursing home ministries. This year, additional projects include the Tucker Center of Hope, a Hygiene Box for personal care items, and a Little Library to provide free books to the community.

The Auxiliary is excited to have new Salvation Army Corp officers, Majors Ray and Whitney Morton, on board to help lead this year’s efforts. Together, they’ll be guiding the team through a busy year of service and outreach.

SAWA is always looking for new members who are passionate about giving back and bringing fresh ideas to the table. Whether you can donate your time, resources, or a combination of both, there’s a place for you here. There are multiple levels of membership, making it easy for anyone to contribute in a way that fits their schedule and availability.

Meetings & Workshops: Get Involved Year-Round

SAWA holds five General Auxiliary Meetings throughout the year on the fourth Tuesday of September, October, January, March, and May. These meetings are a great opportunity to socialize and get updates on the Auxiliary’s activities.

Each meeting also features a used book sale, and from time to time, guest speakers from the community join to share their insights.

SAWA’s Community Care Workshops are another excellent way to get involved. These workshops take place five times a year, offering hands-on opportunities to contribute to local projects.

Souper Bowl Fundraiser: Save the Date!

One of the most anticipated events of the year is SAWA’s Souper Bowl fundraiser, scheduled for February 18, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church. It’s a fun and easy way to give back to the community while enjoying a warm bowl of soup, dessert, and plenty of fellowship with others!

Ready to Make a Difference? If you’re ready to get more involved in your community, SAWA is the perfect place to start. With plenty of opportunities to volunteer, build friendships, and contribute to meaningful causes, you’ll be making a difference while being part of a supportive and dynamic group.
