Joy is a Southern Appalachian native who resides in Jackson County. A North Carolina writer through and through, his novels straddle the line between literary fiction and gripping crime tales. Joy’s distinguished works include the Edgar Award-nominated Where All Light Tends To Go, The Weight Of This World, The Line That Held Us, and When These Mountains Burn.
- His novel Where All Light Tends to Go was made into the film Devilโs Peak in 2023 directed by Ben Young and starring Billy Bob Thornton and Robin Wright.
