The Blendz Lab – Smoothies, Bowls, Salads, and Sandwiches is an inaugural venture into the restaurant business for co-owners Matt Marsh and Glenn Heilig. However, it’s not their first or only business. In fact, they have worked together for over 30 years at The Forum fitness center in Salisbury.
That is where the vision for Blendz Lab began. Marsh owns the gym and Heilig has been a personal trainer there since the late 1990s. One of their most popular add-ons for their members is their Power Blendz smoothies…great for post-workouts!
When they heard about plans for a food hall in downtown Kannapolis, they envisioned taking their smoothies to a larger audience and expanding their offerings to include bowls, salads, and sandwiches too.

They came up with the idea for the name and logo as a play on a mad scientist creating healthy food options. They have taken their brand to the next level with lots of fun signage and the perfect electric chair selfie spot, which has been visited by both the Charlotte Hornets mascot, Hugo, and Glenn’s mom.
They hired a chef to work with them on their menu, which is both creative and full of healthy options. They give shout outs to scientists and scholars in the naming of their food options, including customer favorites, like the Dr. Strange Caprese Panini. Since the food hall opening, they have been revising their menu and launched updated offerings last week {see menu}.

Their staff is always energetic and friendly, and they are growing a loyal following in just their first few months at The Bank.
Blendz Lab also prides itself on having grab-and-go options for busy people looking to have something quick, but healthy. Their shakes and bowls pack lots of protein and they offer a full lineup of boosts and additives as well, keeping customers coming back for more!
The team has also been in the lab working on some new desserts to add to the menu, like this banana pudding ice cream sandwich.
