As the Ben Mynatt Children’s Foundation Classic embarks on its 23rd year, it continues to shine as a beacon of generosity and unwavering community support. During its existence, this annual event has contributed over $1,098,000 in cumulative giving to various children’s charities in our region.
Hosted at the Trump National Golf Club Charlotte, renowned for its spectacular design by Greg Norman, this annual golf tournament is revered by local golfers as one of the best charity tournaments. The Classic offers participants a day filled with fantastic prizes, a delightful breakfast and lunch, and an awards ceremony at the 19th hole reception.
- The foundation’s roots trace back to Rusty Shealy, a Concord native who served as comptroller at Concrete Supply before founding his own company, Southern Concrete. Motivated by a profound desire to make a difference in the lives of children in need, Rusty, who had a disabled daughter, helped establish the foundation alongside the late Ben Mynatt.
The Ben Mynatt Children’s Foundation operates with a local focus, managing grant requests exclusively from Cabarrus organizations. Be sure to visit benmynattgolf.com to view a gallery of photos recognizing the 2023 grant recipients.
- Reflecting on the foundation’s impact, Cyndie Mynatt, daughter of Ben Mynatt, shares her sentiments: “The grant presentation breakfast is so special, not only to be able to distribute checks but to hear the stories of all that is being done in our community for the children who need it most. We love how the organizations we support all seem to overlap, helping each other serve. It’s a wonderful way to honor my father’s memory!”
As the Ben Mynatt Children’s Foundation Children’s Classic marks another successful year, it underscores the vision of making a truly meaningful difference in the lives of children. Next year’s golf tournament will be held on September 30, 2024.
