As the sun sets on warm September evenings, the streets of Downtown Concord will come alive with a burst of vibrant colors, inviting all to enjoyโ€”the Colorful Lights Tour. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the month, residents and visitors alike can explore Downtown Concord, connect with others, and learn more about the rich history of the area.

  • The Colorful Lights Tour takes place every weekend in September, from 7-10 pm (Sept 1-3, Sept 8-10, Sept 15-17, Sept 22-24, Sept 29-Oct 1). The best part? This event is entirely free for the public, including access to the digital guide, which provides fascinating information about each home showcased on the tour.

The Colorful Lights Tour originated in 2021, born out of the need for outdoor activities during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic. This walking tour provided an opportunity for people to go outside, appreciate the beauty of Historic Concord’s neighborhoods, and discover the remarkable stories behind its historic homes.

During the Colorful Lights Tour, the historic homes along a 2+ mile path are lit up with bright colors, creating a truly magical atmosphere. As you stroll through the illuminated streets, a digital walking guide will accompany you, offering insights into each home’s history and intriguing facts spanning the past 150 years.

๐Ÿ†•๐Ÿ˜๏ธ This year’s tour promises to be even more captivating, with additional historic homes included on streets like Spring St NW, Franklin Ave NW, Georgia St NW, Grove Ave NW, and Washington Lane SE.

While the tour focuses on the exteriors of the homes, its purpose is to spark curiosity and inspire further exploration. Take your time, absorb the ambiance, and allow the stories of the past to transport you to a bygone era. The tour’s span over 15 days encourages visitors to delve deep into the history and significance of each home.

Before or after the tour, make sure to visit the local businesses and sponsors that make this event possible. Treat yourself to a delicious meal or enjoy a refreshing drink downtown while you soak up the vibrant atmosphere. Check the websites of these businesses for more details and operating hours.

Presented by PPS, Premium Power Systems, the Colorful Lights Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience that blends history, community, and Concord’s architectural heritage. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with the past and build a brighter future for our growing city.
