The team behind Down South on Main and Man Cave on Main has once again brought something exciting to the community – Down South Styles. This new venture comes from the unique partnership of Susan and Melissa, who have been brought together by more than just business—it’s been a journey of prayer and purpose.
Susan, who runs a successful ad agency, felt a calling to use her creativity in additional ways. At the same time, Melissa had been praying for a way to work together on a new project. Knowing Susan’s passion for the other stores, Melissa was excited about the possibility of a partnership.
After some thoughtful discussions, Susan decided to join Melissa in this new adventure. While still running her business, Susan is bringing her marketing expertise and creative flair to Down South Styles. Together, Susan and Melissa are combining their strengths to create something truly special.
Originally, they looked for a new location for the boutique. In true “Down South” fashion, they prayed for guidance, asking that if the plan wasn’t meant to be, it wouldn’t happen. Soon after, they found an opportunity right where they were—a space behind Melissa’s current store, Down South on Main, opened up, providing exactly what they needed.
Within two weeks, they were ready to move forward. They reconfigured the layout of the store, moving the décor to one side, keeping the man cave essentials in their usual spot, and placing the clothing in the center. Their prayers had been answered in the space they already had. The response from the community has been nothing short of overwhelming and both ladies shared that their husbands’ unwavering support has been vital in bringing this dream to life.

Although neither had previous experience running a boutique, Susan and Melissa knew exactly the kind of clothing they wanted to offer. They chose pieces their team and customers would love—clothes that are both stylish and comfortable. The goal of the boutique is, “for you to see how beautiful you are no matter what! No matter your age, no matter your size, no matter what!!” From younger shoppers to “Golden Girls,” Down South Styles caters to everyone looking for cute, modest, and trendy options.
Down South Styles has it all—clothing, bags, jewelry, shoes and more fill the racks, ensuring that no one walks away empty-handed. They carry popular brands like Mud Pie, Southern Grace, and Risen, offering everything from XS to 3-4X.
One unique feature of Down South Styles is its collection of faith-based graphic tees. Susan and Melissa decided to partner with a local business to create these shirts, and the process has been deeply meaningful. The owner of the t-shirt company shared how working on these designs has brought her closer to God, inspired by the messages Susan and Melissa wanted to share. These shirts are more than just cute pieces of clothing – they’re part of the store’s mission to inspire and uplift.
