Man Cave on Main Opens in Downtown Mount Pleasant.
Introducing the latest addition to Mount Pleasant’s shopping scene; Man Cave on Main! Last February, Cabarrus Weekly introduced you to Melissa and Jeff Lemmond, the owners of Down South on Main.
- Now, they’ve unveiled their latest venture, Man Cave on Main, bringing Cabarrus County residents and visitors a place to find vintage treasures, collectibles, and unique “man cave” items.
Melissa and Jeff, both Mount Pleasant High School alumni, have deep roots in the community, raising their three children while building their businesses in their hometown. Jeff’s experience in the “buy, sell, trade” world led him to establish Down South Deals in 2019, initially focusing on antiques, collectibles, and man cave essentials. Melissa’s keen eye for interior design expanded their offerings to include home dĂ©cor and furniture, catering to a broader customer base.

Like many businesses, they faced challenges during the pandemic, forcing them to close their doors. However, Melissa kept the business alive doing Facebook Live segments and their customer base continued to grow. In 2021, they reopened as Down South on Main, which quickly flourished.
- With the overwhelming success of Down South on Main, the Lemmonds seized the opportunity to expand once more and Man Cave on Main was born. A homage to Jeff’s love for picking and flipping, and a return to their initial focus on collectibles and “man cave” essentials.
With a focus on items made in the U.S.A., Man Cave on Main has a little bit of everything for the man in your life.
- From vintage signs to BBQ rubs and sauces, quality knives, beard kits, collegiate sports memorabilia, and locally made treasures like wooden etched keychains, there’s something for everyone.
The store’s partnership with the Mount Pleasant Booster Club shows its commitment to the local community, enriching the shopping experience with a touch of hometown pride. Looking for a gift and not sure where to start? Ask “Coach Furr,” she’ll help you pick out the perfect item. Susan Furr has been with Jeff and Melissa since the beginning and is always ready to offer a smile and a suggestion.
While the vibe may differ from Down South on Main, Melissa emphasizes that their core values remain unchanged.
- Gratitude and faith are at the heart of their operation, as they acknowledge the blessings they have received.
As Jeff continues to scour for vintage treasures, the store’s inventory promises to evolve, keeping visitors intrigued with new discoveries during each visit. Future plans also include expanding into hunting and fishing gear.
- FUN FACT: The large “Mae West” gas pump located at the front of the store actually belonged to Melissa’s Grandfather, who was an Auto Tech teacher at Mount Pleasant High School.
She says the piece has a great story behind it and is always a conversation starter. Be sure to ask about when you visit.
So, the next time you find yourself in Mount Pleasant, be sure to make a pit stop at Man Cave on Main. Whether you’re hunting for sports memorabilia, seeking the perfect gift, or are just simply curious, you’ll discover a world of treasures and a warm welcome from the Lemmond family and their dedicated team. After all, every man—or woman—deserves a sanctuary where nostalgia meets modern charm, and at Man Cave on Main, that’s exactly what you’ll find
