North Texas Supercell Unleashes 90 MPH Winds and Baseball Hail Between Poolville and Springtown Northwest of Fort Worth

NORTH TEXAS — A dangerous supercell thunderstorm is producing 90-plus mph wind gusts and baseball-sized hail between Poolville and Springtown, approximately 30 miles northwest of Fort Worth, as surging cold air wraparound on the back side of the storm drives a life-threatening combination of wind and hail across the area.

This is an extremely dangerous and fast-moving situation. Wind-driven baseball hail at 90-plus mph will shatter windows and cause severe siding damage to any structure in its path. Anyone outdoors or in a vehicle in the affected area must get inside a sturdy structure immediately.

What the Radar Is Showing

The radar image shows an intense supercell core with deep reds, magentas, and purples indicating the highest reflectivity values — a signature consistent with extremely large hail and violent winds within the storm. The circled area between Poolville and Springtown along Highway 199 marks the location of the most dangerous activity at the time of this image.

The storm is tracking through a corridor that includes Bridgeport, Paradise, Boyd, Runaway Bay, and surrounding communities northwest of Fort Worth, with the primary impact zone currently focused on the Poolville to Springtown corridor.
