MISSISSIPPI, ALABAMA AND LOUISIANA — Strong tornadoes are possible across the Deep South on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with the tornado probability outlook updated at 2:28 AM ET Wednesday placing a 10 percent tornado probability with EF2 or greater possible across a corridor centered on Jackson, Mississippi and Birmingham, Alabama. The primary tornado window runs from 3:00 PM through midnight, with an SPC upgrade to tornado probabilities still possible depending on cloud cover and air mass recovery through the day.

Any tornado that develops within this zone carries the capability of reaching EF2 intensity or stronger, meaning winds of 111 MPH or greater capable of causing significant structural damage.
