SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — The Sandy Fire is actively burning on the south side of Simi Valley in the Simi Hills, covering 183.9 acres and spreading rapidly under dangerous fire weather conditions including 24 mph ENE wind gusts and a critically low relative humidity of just 15 percent. The fire is pushing southwesterly through the hills and directly threatening Oak Canyon, Bard Reservoir, Lindero Canyon, and Oak Park.

With wind gusts sustaining at 24 mph and humidity at just 15 percent, conditions are extremely favorable for rapid fire spread.
